Framfield Primary School required a new extension for new classrooms and a communal area. Highwood Groundwork were contracted by John Farrington & Co to undertake the job of constructing the base for this extension. Initially the site had to be cleared, set-out and the foundations excavated. During this process it was found that the soil was contaminated, stalling the job for a number of days, whilst it was remedied. Later on during the job a well (or old holding tank) was also found, which had to be filled with large amounts of concrete. Once these obstacles were overcome a new drainage system was installed, block work was laid up to DPC height and a concrete oversite was laid.
